Oodlü Phonics released!

We are delighted to say that a significant development has now been completed and today we released the new oodlü Phonics system.

Oodlü Phonics enables you to quickly and easily create phonics and spelling questions for your students.  You can create questions manually with the Phonics Picker, or you can use the Phonics Generator tool to quickly filter and create questions from 1700 ready to use words.

The 7 new question types

All the new question types can be played in formative or summative mode and are supported in all game types (including the Quickfire whole class game and mobile, when Apple approve the new release).

The Phonics Picker tool

Use the Phonics Picker tool to build words from phonemes and graphemes.  Select the phoneme that you need, click on the associated grapheme and it will be added to the word.  You can click each grapheme in the word as you build it to hear the phoneme sound for it.  As you roll over each phoneme you get information about it.

You can even use the advanced filters to reduce the phoneme list:

Once you've built your word you just click save and the question is ready to use!

The Phonics Generator

Use the Phonics Generator to quickly create questions from the 1700 words that we have already prepared for you.

Simply go to "Bulk create questions" within the Question Collection editing screen and select any of the phonics Question Types.

Filter on Phonics scheme, CV structure, number of syllables and IMF structure, then simply choose the words you want and click "Save".  The questions will be generated and added to your Question Collection.

Game Play

When the questions are displayed in games, we use a system of common correspondance errors to ensure that the distractors keep things interesting for the learners.

Oodlü also provides feedback to help guide the students through the question in formative mode.

And, of course, questions are delivered via our dynamic question delivery system which selects the most appropriate next question for the student.

Advanced phonics system coming soon on oodlü

We have been busy developing the new phonics system for oodlü.

You'll be able to quickly and easily generate lists of words that your students can play in games of their choice.  We've literally broken down 1700 words into their constituent parts, so that you will be able to filter on their properties and quickly add the words you want to your Question Collections.

We've still got some way to go, but watch this space!

Student Analytics download now supported

This may seem like a small thing, but we're sure it will be very handy!  We're pleased to say that oodlü PREMIUM users can now download student progress data from the analytics section of oodlü.

Just segment the data as you wish and click the new "download" button:

The data currently displayed on the screen will download as a CSV file that you can open in your favourite spreadsheet application.

Oodlü is now available in Russian!
